As a visual artist, I have always been motivated by captivating visuals and smoothly animated TV shows, particularly anime and manga with their detailed art. My creative work primarily involves illustrating commissions for individual clients, ranging from product designs to t-shirt and comic companies, mostly featuring fictional characters.
I believe in the importance of having a support system during the creative process. While adult creatives should take responsibility for their well-being, I understand the difficulty of stepping away from engaging projects. Fortunately, I am grateful to have amazing people around me who are both creative and caring, holding me accountable for resting when needed and helping me maintain a positive creative mindset.
To provide emotional support to writers and other creatives, I believe in the power of empathy. By connecting with their passion for writing or their fascination with the characters and worlds they create, I provide a safe space for expression and exploration.
Additionally, I offer assistance when they encounter struggles during the creative process.Creating a safe space during the creative process is important to me, and I find having a dedicated work area contributes to my best work. While I can technically work anywhere due to the nature of my mobile work, I thrive at my designated desk, which I consider my creative sanctuary.
When balancing emotional support and constructive feedback for writers to improve their skills, I establish clear goals for our conversations. I communicate the intention to leave the conversation with a positive outcome. If there are identifiable problems, we discuss the creative process, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses to find ways to improve or try different approaches. In cases where the problem is unclear, I suggest discussing topics of personal interest that remind them why they love what they do, providing a mental break from immediate projects.
